Firefox is one of the most popular browsers. Millions of people worldwide use this browser on their computer to access internet. Sometimes you may encounter certain problems with the browser. Some issues are very common and can be fixed easily. For some problems you may need to contact Mozilla Firefox Customer Support. Let’s take a look at some common issues.
“Your Connection is Not Secure,” what does it mean?
When you access a secure website on Firefox whose URL starts with ‘https://’ then Firefox needs to verify that the security certificate provided by the website is authentic and if it is valid the encryption is strong enough to provide desired security and protect the privacy. If Firefox is not able to validate the certificate or if it finds that encryption isn’t really strong, then it will prevent the connection to that site and you will see the error message, “Your connection is not secure.” If you encounter this error, it would be best not to access the website. However, if you know that the site is secure you can click ‘Advanced’ and bypass the warning message.
Why does Firefox crash from time to time?
When the Firefox browser terminates abruptly and on its own, it is called a crash. When you re-launch the browser after the crash you will see the Crash Reporter. If your browser is still open but is not responding to any clicks or keyboard presses, it is not a crash, it is a hang. Usually, you can fix the crash issue by updating the Firefox. To update to the latest version, click on the hamburger menu on the top right and click Help. Then click on About Firefox. A new window will pop-up and Firefox will begin looking for updates. The updates will be downloaded automatically. Besides updating Firefox, you also need to make sure that your Plugins are up to date. You can check the plugins at https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
You may also need to update your OS for Firefox to work without crashes. The other things you need to update are your graphics driver, the internet security software, and antivirus. You may also need to scan your computer for viruses as they are also known to cause crashes.
If none of this works, you can contact Mozilla Firefox Technical Support for help.
Why do I see the wrong home page when I open Firefox?
There are some third-party services that tend to change the home page of Firefox so that their website opens every time you launch the browser. To make sure this does not happen, while installing any software on your computer, make sure you decline or uncheck any option asking you to set the new homepage of the browser. To restore the original homepage (or to keep it blank) right click on the Firefox shortcut on your desktop or Start menu and click Properties. Select the Shortcut tab and in the Target field you will see the homepage link in the end (after ‘firefox.exe’). You can delete that web address or add a new one of your choice.
